Books for Preschoolers - Bug Safari

Bug Safari
by Bob Barner

From the Preschool Book

The events described here actually happened to me. The things I learned are recorded to the best of my memory. We can still observe and learn from the great, great ancestors of the very ants I saw that day so very long ago–well, last summer.

About the Preschool Book

A young boy determinedly follows a long line of ants on their safari through the jungle. He learns all sorts of interesting things about those ants on the way. He wonders where they are going, and it’s a surprise when he finds out at the ending!

From the Reviewer - Molly Christensen

Original Story Line

While it seems simple, the story line is original, and preschoolers will enjoy it. It is told from the point of view of a young boy with a good imagination. While the parent will probably suspect what the ending will be, preschoolers likely won't and will get a kick out of where the ants and the boy end up. The writing was okay, however it contained at least one grammatical error.

Artwork

The artwork is unique, and made of cut and torn paper from around the world as well as paste paper. The colors are bright and will catch your preschooler’s eye. Your preschooler can search for many different bugs in each illustration.

Educational

Your preschoolers will learn some interesting things about ants and other bugs in this book. For example, did you know that ants talk to one another by touching antennae on top of their heads?  A fun book to read aloud to your preschoolers. Perhaps it will spark your preschooler’s imagination in the spring and they’ll decide to go on their own bug safari!
